Default audio input not working on Macbook?
Test process:
-
Tried a "fake" device in main.json to see if AudioServer process actually detects input devices, since it does not say so in the console output.
-
Tried a "real" device, to see if it says anything about the device in console output. Since it does not mention the input device, I then try to capture audio, and route it to an output -- but it does not seem audible.
Also noticed:
- In console,
Built-in Output
includes theInput
channels listed alongside theOutput
channels, even though it's called theBuilt-in Output
.
Fake device correctly causes an error
First, it's able to distinguish between "fake" and real devices. Tested by trying deviceName: "Built-in NOPE-ophone"
.
Attempting to open audio device(s):
Input = Built-in NOPE-ophone, channels = 2
Output = Built-in Output, channels = 2
No such device: Built-in NOPE-ophone

Real device recognized, but silent
Second, when trying the "real" device name (Built-in Microphone
) it does not say No such device
(like in the above "fake" example) but the input is still silent.
-
when I query peaks at
../sources/device-1/peaks
it returnsnull
-
it seems silent when connected with a device output or Shoutcast stream output, though I can confirm that there is audio when looking at the audio device VU meter built into the Mac settings panel.
